This is the Machu Picchu tour with Private Guide

Tour itinerary

Pick up in Cusco and trip to Ollantaytambo

The Machu Picchu 1-day tour with a private guide begins in the city of Cusco with the pick up of the visitor at the door of his hotel. The pick-up is at approximately 5 am (before coordination by WhatsApp) and is in charge of the professional guide who will accompany you throughout the tour.
On board a minivan you take a short trip from your hotel to the Wánchaq station in the center of the city. In Wánchaq begins the trip by Bimodal bus (Peru Rail service) that in 2 hours takes you to the train station in the town of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Travel by train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

Ollantaytambo (2,792 masl) is the final point of the bus trip. This town is famous for its archaeological sites and its Inca streets. There we stop for 30 minutes to board the train. During this time the visitor can use the restrooms and try a snack or drink.
The train ride is an experience that already includes the magic of Machu Picchu. The Expedition train includes all the comfort on board (cushioned seats, tables, panoramic windows, and more). The train features ambient Andean music, onboard vending service, and more. The tour guide will accompany you during the trip. Optionally the tourist can upgrade the train to a Vistadome service. After a comfortable journey of 1 hour and 40 minutes, you arrive at the train station of Aguas Calientes, also called Machu Picchu village because of its proximity to the Inca citadel.

Bus trip from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu

Aguas Calientes (2,040 meters above sea level) is a special town because of its proximity to Machu Picchu, its green landscape of high mountains, and its many tourist services. When you get off the train, always accompanied by a guide, you walk 5 minutes to the Aguas Calientes bus station.
Normally there is a 10-minute queue before boarding the buses. Consettur buses are comfortable, with large windows to appreciate the scenery. The buses do not damage the beautiful environment of Machu Picchu. The bus ride takes 30 minutes on average. The route is up the Hiram Bingham road. The final stretch is at the gate of the archaeological site of Machu Picchu.

The tourist circuit through Machu Picchu

At the entrance gate of Machu Picchu, we will have some free time to use the restrooms. Then, together with the private guide, we will enter the Inca citadel. Tourists can choose the circuit they prefer in Machu Picchu. However, the most recommended is the ‘2’, because it includes the visit to the main Inca buildings, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, the Water Fountains, the sector of the terraces and more. This circuit also allows you to get a postcard photo from the Guardian’s House.
The tour of Machu Picchu in the company of the guide lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. The tourist will also be able to get the best pictures of the place and solve any doubts with the guide. It is forbidden to retrace the steps so once outside the Inca citadel is not possible to re-enter.

Return trip from Aguas Calientes

After visiting the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu you will take the Consettur buses for the 30-minute descent to the town of Aguas Calientes. If you included the buffet lunch you should stay at the entrance gate of Machu Picchu because there is the 5-star hotel Sanctuary Lodge. There you will enjoy a lunch with a great variety of dishes. Then you will return to the town of Aguas Calientes by bus.
Once in the town of Aguas Calientes, the visitor will have some free time to enjoy lunch (not included in the tour). Then you can enjoy the beautiful streets of the town or shop at the artisan market. There you will find the train station where you should arrive 30 minutes before the departure of the trains. The tour guide will indicate the meeting time at the station.

Return from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo

The return trip is made by the same route as the outbound leg. The train included is the Expedition service of Peru Rail. It includes comfortable seats, tables, panoramic windows, as well as board attention (sale of snacks and drinks).
Optionally, the visitor can add the return trip by Vistadome train, which includes a snack and a non-alcoholic beverage on board. During the trip, there is a show of dances and a parade of clothes made of alpaca. The return trip takes 1 hour 40 minutes and ends at the train station in the town of Ollantaytambo.

Return from Ollantaytambo to Cusco

In Ollantaytambo, always accompanied by the guide, the group will have to walk 2 minutes to the Peru Rail Bimodal bus station. The bus trip takes almost 2 hours from Ollantaytambo to the Wánchaq station in Cusco city.
The bus will arrive in the city of Cusco at around 9 pm. There the guide will accompany you to board a tourist minivan to the door of your hotel. The service ends with the farewell of the guide.
