Tour itinerary

DAY 1

Pick up and visit to Taray lookout point

The tour starts with the pick up of the visitor at the door of his hotel at approximately 7 am. The ample tourist transport will travel from the city of Cusco to the Taray viewpoint after a 1-hour drive. There, in Taray, there are beautiful views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is the visitor’s opportunity to get the best pictures.

Visit to Pisac

The trip in tourist transport continues to visit the archaeological site of Pisac. There you will visit its huge terraces, its stone buildings, and even the largest Inca cemetery. The tour guide will allow you to get the best pictures of the Inca site. After visiting Taray, you will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its artisan workshops specializing in the manufacture of 950 silver jewelry. The visitor will learn about their techniques, customs, and traditions.

Buffet lunch in Urubamba

On board the spacious tourist transport we will take a 1 hour and 30 minutes trip to the town of Urubamba. There we will descend to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at the prestigious Tunupa restaurant, considered one of the best in Cusco. The buffet has many varieties of soups, salads, breads, main dishes, pastas, desserts, fruits and more. Dishes such as trout ceviche, causa rellena, tequeños with guacamole, huancaína potato, pork, salted noodles and more stand out. After lunch, tourists can learn more about the colonial mansion where the Tunupa restaurant is located.

Visit to Ollantaytambo

The trip in tourist transport will continue for 20 minutes until arriving at the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. There the visitor will make a circuit through its formidable stone constructions. Highlights include stone temples such as the Baths of the Ñusta, the Temple of the Sun, the Enclosure of the 10 Hornacinas, and its high terraces. Always accompanied by a tour guide, the visitor will understand the importance of the Inca site and the town, considered as a living Inca city.

Travel and overnight stay in Aguas Calientes

After visiting Ollantaytambo, the vehicle will take us to the lower part of the town where we will board the Inca Rail tourist train The Voyager. The train ride lasts 1 hour 40 minutes on average. The train has comfortable seats, tables, and large windows to contemplate the beautiful scenery. The train has space for luggage, staff on board, toilets, as well as complimentary snacks and drinks. The trip ends at Aguas Calientes station. An assistant will be waiting for us for the transfer on foot (in the small town there are no cabs or public transportation buses) to the tourist hotel. After dinner (not included in the tour) the visitor will receive a briefing about the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu and, in the evening, rest.

DAY 2

Breakfast and bus to Machu Picchu

At about 6:00 a.m. the tourist will be able to have breakfast in the dining room of the tourist hotel. The breakfast offers bread, jam, butter, milk, yogurt, fruits, coffee, cereals, etc. Then, accompanied by the tour guide, you walk a few minutes through the village to arrive at the Consettur bus station. Normally there is a queue of 10 minutes before boarding the tourist bus. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes. Travelers are all seated contemplating the beautiful Andean landscapes until arriving at the entrance gate of Machupicchu.

Tour of Machu Picchu with a tour guide

Once at the entrance gate of Machu Picchu, the group will enter the archaeological site accompanied by the tour guide. The chosen circuit is number 2, the most recommended in the Inca citadel. This circuit includes the visit to the most famous temples, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor, the Water Fountains, the terraces, etc. The circuit also includes a visit to the sector of the Guardian’s House. There you have beautiful views of Machu Picchu (there you get the classic postcard photos of the Inca citadel). The tour of Machu Picchu in the company of the tour guide lasts 2 hours 30 minutes.

Return by bus to Aguas Calientes

After visiting Machu Picchu, the group will descend to Aguas Calientes on the Consettur tourist bus (30-minute trip). In the town of Aguas Calientes, the visitor has free time to have lunch in one of the many tourist restaurants in town (lunch not included). The group should be at the train station about 30 minutes before the train ride.

Expedition train trip to Ollantaytambo and bus Cusco

The return trip is on Peru Rail’s Expedition tourist train. This service includes maximum comfort: seats, tables, and large windows with beautiful views of the Andean landscape. The train ride takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. The final destination is the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In Ollantaytambo, the visitor must take a few steps to board one of the tourist buses to the city of Cusco. The return trip is almost 2 hours.

Final transfer to hotel in Cusco

The bus trip from Ollantaytambo ends at the Wánchaq station in the city of Cusco. When leaving the station an assistant will be waiting for the final transfer to the door of your hotel in Cusco. The tour concludes at the door of the visitor’s hotel at approximately 9:00 pm.
